Datenschutz.

Was an Dritte geht
Was Keyward bewusst nicht speichert
Budget-Mitteilungen zeigt macOS lokal an.

Kontakt
matt@matt-b.chEnglish version.
Keyward collects no data about you. Keys and usage data stay on your Mac; requests go only to the provider you configure.
Local only
Keyward runs a proxy bound exclusively to 127.0.0.1. Only programs on your Mac can reach it, not the network. There is no account, no server of ours, no synchronisation, no analytics or crash reporting, and no advertising or tracking libraries.
What goes to third parties
Requests that your own programs send to Keyward are forwarded unchanged to the provider you configured for them — for example OpenAI, Anthropic or Google — together with your API key for that provider. That provider’s privacy policy applies to this data. Keyward sends nothing to us or anyone else.
What is stored on your Mac
- Provider API keys — only in the macOS Keychain, on this device only
- Virtual keys — only as a SHA-256 hash, never in plain text
- Per forwarded request: time, key name, provider, model, path without parameters, status, duration and token counts
- Custom providers, prices, budgets, entered balances and settings
All of it lives inside the app container and is removed with the app. None of it is transmitted to us, analysed or given to third parties.
What Keyward deliberately does not store
No request or response content — no prompts, no answers, no files. Keyward reads at most the model name from a request and the token counts from a response, both in memory only.
Touch ID and notifications
macOS performs the Touch ID check; Keyward receives no biometric data. Budget notifications are shown locally by macOS.
Deletion
Remove keys and providers inside the app. Individual requests are condensed into daily totals after the configured period (default 180 days). Uninstalling the app removes the container at «~/Library/Containers/ch.baertschi.keyward/» and with it the entire state. Remove the API keys in the Keychain from inside the app or in Keychain Access.
The purchase
Keyward is a one-time purchase through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the payment, not the app — Keyward sees neither your name nor your payment details. There is no subscription. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the payment.
