Datenschutz.
Codeloupe erhebt keine Daten und überträgt keine Daten. Alles, was Sie scannen, bleibt auf Ihrem Mac.

Stand: 1. September 2026
Kein Netzwerkzugriff

Codeloupe collects no data and transmits no data. Everything you scan stays on your Mac.
No network access
The app ships without the entitlement for outgoing network connections. It is technically unable to reach the internet — neither us nor anyone else. There is no account, no sign-in, no sync, no analytics or crash reporting, and no advertising or tracking libraries.
What is stored on your Mac
- History: When enabled, the app stores the last 200 scans (time, symbology, detected type and content) in a file inside its own app container. You can delete individual entries or the entire history at any time, and switch recording off completely in Settings.
- Settings: The keyboard shortcut and the history switch live in the app's own preferences.
- Clipboard: The content of a scanned code is placed on the clipboard so you can paste it.
Deleting the app removes this data with it.
Screen recording
To read a code, the app needs the macOS “Screen Recording” permission. It is used for this single feature and nothing else.
What is collected is one still image of the screen area you drag with the mouse, and only at the moment you trigger a scan. Nothing is recorded continuously, nothing is observed in the background, and nothing outside the rectangle you select is captured. Audio is never recorded.
The image is used solely to decode a barcode contained in it. There is no other purpose: no analysis, no further text recognition, no machine learning, no profiling, no advertising.
The image is not stored. It exists only in memory, is discarded after decoding, and is never written to disk.
It is not disclosed or shared either, neither with us nor with any third party. The app ships without the entitlement for outgoing network connections and is technically unable to open one.
The only thing retained is the decoded content of the code, and only if you leave the history switched on. It stays in a file inside the app container on your Mac and can be deleted individually or in full at any time. The captured image has long been discarded by then.
Files for Contacts and Calendar
If a code contains a contact card or an event, the app writes a .vcf or .ics file to its temporary folder when you click, and hands it to Contacts or Calendar. The app itself does not access your address book or your calendars.
Opening links
The notes shown for web links are derived from the address alone. No address is fetched, no redirect is resolved and no reputation service is consulted. A link is opened only when you explicitly click to open it — your default browser takes over from there.
